GALAXY RESOURCES —
LITHIUM MINE — DUST MANAGEMENT
1214. Hon DIANE EVERS to the minister representing the
Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to the lithium mine at Old
Newdegate Road, Ravensthorpe, being operated by Galaxy Resources.
(1) What
conditions have been placed on the company to ensure that emissions and discharges
from the operation do not contaminate or spread to neighbouring properties?
(2) What penalties are in place if
the operator fails to comply with these conditions?
(3) Will the
minister look into complaints by some residents that spodumene silicate dust
has been blowing onto their properties?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
(5) If yes to
(3), will the minister take immediate action to rectify the problem and enforce
the penalties available if the issue is not fully addressed?

I have not seen that question. I certainly
do not have a copy of the answer on my file. When did the member lodge that
question?
Hon Diane Evers : I believe it
was lodged a couple of weeks ago.
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN : We
will follow that up. I do not have any record here of that question.
