In reference to the Minister’s answer to question on notice No 2166 in which the Minister cited the Low Emission Energy Development (LEED) fund, as a key example of a program intended to reduce emissions, I ask -
(1) Will the Minister advise the amount of emissions reductions by tonnage of CO2 and CO2e, delivered as a result of the LEED fund to date?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Will the Minister cite the key State Government mitigation policies currently delivering greenhouse gas abatement in Western Australia?
(4) If not to (3), why not?
(5) If yes to (3), what is the amount of abatement attributable to each of these policies by tonnage of CO2 and CO2e?
(6) Will the Minister advise the total emissions reduction by CO2 and CO2e tonnage which will be delivered from the entire State Government climate change policy suite and the overall impact of this policy package on State-wide emission trends?

(1-2) Funding from the Low Emission Energy Development (LEED) Fund is granted according to a range of criteria, including the estimated abatement over the life of the project and the expected future abatement from new technology. However, these figures are commercial in confidence to the individual projects.
(3-4) There are a wide range of State Government policies which were identified as material mitigation measures during Western Australia's Complementary Measures Review. The review sought to identify those policies which were complementary to a national emissions trading scheme. The final report of the Western Australian Complementary Measures Review coordinated by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) for COAG is available on DEC's website at

.
The Government is developing a Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy which will focus on practical actions at the State level.
(5-6) Information on current greenhouse gas emissions for Western Australiacan be found in the Australian Government's Department of Climate Change report
State and Territory Greenhouse Gas Inventories 2008
. The State Government's System for Accounting and Reporting of Government Emissions (SARGE) captures data for Government agencies, but does not include data from non-government entities.
