POLITICAL PARTIES — INCORPORATION
660. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the Minister for Commerce:
This
is a different question. I refer to my inaugural speech on 14 June 2023. In
relation to political parties incorporated under the Associations
Incorporation Act 2015 —
(1) How many have
been issued with exemptions by the commissioner under section 23 of the act and
what are the reasons for those exemptions?
(2) What
conditions, if any, has the commissioner attached to the exemptions under
section 23(3) of the act?
(3) Which, if
any, political parties incorporated under the act applied for incorporation
with the statement that the model rules for incorporation have been adopted?
(4) How many
variations has the commissioner approved under section 25 of the act and what
are the nature of those variations?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I make the point that it could be zero or it could be a really
large number. The member put no time frame on it, and it is potentially a lot
of information. The idea about giving some notice is that there is a four-hour
period. I appreciate the member is a new member; he might not appreciate this. There is a four-hour turnaround. If the
member wants a lot of information, it is probably best to place the question on notice. I am unable to provide an answer today as the information is not
able to be provided in the time frame available, but I undertake to provide an
answer on 20 June 2023.
