❓ Hon. Anthony Spagnolo asks the Minister for Health to provide specific data regarding hospital capacity at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on a particular date, following a previous unanswered question. The Minister responds that the data is not readily available due to its fragmented nature across multiple operational systems and the resource-intensive process required to collate and verify it.

I refer to the answer to question on notice 445, in which it was stated that “data relating to hospital capacity, patient volumes, transfer activity, and ambulance bypass status is drawn from multiple operational systems and requires collation and verification. As such the information on this date is not available.” In light of this explanation, I ask the Minister to ensure that the collation and verification of this data is completed so that it can be provided in response to this question on notice. If this is not possible, I request that the Minister advise the date by which the information will be available. I therefore ask again, referring to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital: (a) on 12 August 2025, did the hospital operate at or above that capacity, referenced in (a), at any point; (b) if yes to (a), during which hours did this occur; (c) how many patients above capacity were being cared for during that period in (b); (d) were patient transfers from other hospitals declined during that period in (b); and (e) did the hospital place ambulances on by-pass at any time on that date in (a)?

Point in time metrics such as numbers of patients in beds, numbers of beds available, patient movements between wards and services, transfer requests etc are operational and are held in multiple data sources and are not all held within WA Health administrative data sets. The previous answer referred to protracted and resource-intensive manual processes that would need to be undertaken (to source, collate and verify the information from multiple operational systems). As such this information is not available to respond to questions of this nature.
