(1) Can the Minister provide the number and location of video electro-encephalogram (EEG) beds (including same day beds) in Perth hospitals for the detection and diagnosis of epilepsy? (2) For each of the beds in (1), how many have staff allocated for their utilisation? (3) If beds are not being fully staffed, what is the level of staffing for each bed? (4) Is there a waitlist for patients needing the video EEG bed procedure? (5) If yes to (4), how many patients are on that waitlist and what is the median wait time for the video EEG treatment?

Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH)
1 (can be used as either a multi-day bed or a same day bed) with staff allocated.
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH)
4 (2 multi-day beds, 2 same-day beds) with staff allocated.
Royal Perth Hospital (RPH)
2 (multi-day beds) with staff allocated.
(3) PMH and FSH – Not Applicable
At RPH the level of staffing currently provided is one neurophysiology technician per in-patient monitoring bed as well as neurologist reporting time. Nurses are allocated as per usual arrangements in this ward.
(4) Patients are waitlisted on the Elective Services Wait List for video encephalograms (EEG).
(5) From current data available as at 23 June 2016, there were 85 patients waitlisted on the Elective Services Wait List for video EEG.
Of the 85 patients:
Note: State Epilepsy Service (SES) outpatient clinics transitioned from RPH to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) and it is anticipated that the SES inpatient service will be operational from October 2016.  An audit of the waitlisted patients transferred from RPH is underway prior to the start of inpatient services at SCGH.
