BUILDER GRANTS
555. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the Minister for Finance:
I refer to the building bonus and
home builder grants administered through Revenue WA.
(1) How many of each grant have been
administered to date?
(2) How much has each program cost
the state government to date?
(3) Has Treasury provided any modelling on the
potential impacts these grants have had on rental or housing affordability?
(4) If yes to (3), please table
that modelling.

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The state building bonus grant was established
during the COVID-19 pandemic to support Western Australian jobs, businesses and home builders. As at
12 May 2023, 23 529 state building bonus grants have been paid and 18 177
commonwealth HomeBuilder grants have been paid to Western Australians.
As
at 12 May 2023, the state government has paid $470 580 000 in building bonus
grants. The HomeBuilder grant is funded by the commonwealth government.
In total, $435 745 000 worth of HomeBuilder grants have been paid as at 12 May
2023.
(3) Questions regarding Department
of Treasury advice should be directed to the Treasurer.
(4) Not applicable.
