(1)-(2) The availability of a cash concession DayRider fare at 8.30am in zones 5, 6, 7 and 8 stems from a Government decision in 2001, with the change implemented on 1 September 2001. The Liberal-National Government introduced Seniors free travel in order to provide Seniors this significant benefit, but it also adopted the appropriate policy setting to encourage this free travel take up outside the peak period so that assets are utilised more evenly over the day.
