RESTRICTED ACCESS VEHICLE
NETWORK
164. Mr V.A. CATANIA to the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the proposed abolition of
the CA07 permit conditions for heavy vehicle operations, assessing the
restricted access vehicle network.
(1) Why has no
consultation with local governments occurred prior to the ministerial proposal
being put?
(2) Given that
removing the CA07 will severely impact the ability of local governments to
determine speed restrictions, hours of operation and how heavy vehicles
interact with local traffic on local roads, what is being done by the state
government to address the concerns for safety, liability, budgets and economic
development and the mix of road users?

(1)–(2) I
thank the member for that question. I was advised that there was some
consultation undertaken. I will get back to the member on that, but it was my
advice that consultation had been undertaken in relation to that issue.
