TRAFFIC CONGESTION
850. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to severe congestion on
Perth roads.
(1) Can the
minister please clarify what specific project planning Main Roads is
undertaking in relation to the intersection of North Lake Road and Leach
Highway?
(2) If planning is underway, when
will the planning conclude?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(2) I
reject the premise of the question. The cost of congestion has been less in
each year of the WA Labor government than in the last four years of the
previous government. A traffic signal timing review is scheduled in the coming months to improve traffic signal timings and
delays at this intersection. Main Roads is continuing to investigate
further at-grade intersection improvements.
