POLICE TASKING AND DISPATCH INFORMATION SYSTEM — ROLLOUT IN GERALDTON REGION
I refer to comments made on GWN on 19 June 2008 by Assistant Commissioner of Police Graeme Lienert that the tasking and dispatch information system will be introduced into country regions over the next three years. (1) When will the Geraldton region be serviced with TADIS? (2) In which order and in what time frame will the other regions be serviced? Hon JON FORD

I thank Hon Brian Ellis for some notice of the question. The Minister for Police and Emergency Services has supplied the following answer. (1)-(2) The state government provided $58 million for the police metropolitan radio network, including the rollout of the state-of-the-art digital in-vehicle tasking and dispatch information system—TADIS. Since 2002, the state government has invested $31 million each year on police information technology and communications, and it will continue to upgrade police resources across Western Australia. Improvement to the regional radio systems, including the rollout of TADIS, is one of the remaining challenges to be addressed.
