I refer to the $46.5 million transferred to the Department of Housing for the housing of Mental Health consumers, and I ask -
(1) Of the 80 metropolitan homes and 20 country homes, how many have already been built?
(2) Of those that have not been built, what will be the wait-time for those residences to be built?
(3) Will the consumer be established in a place of their choice or will they have to choose from the current regions used by the Housing Department?
(4) Will the Mental Health consumers that are under the wrap-around service programme which includes housing, be on a wait list with the Department of Housing?
(5) If yes to (4), for how long?
(6) Will these residences be built near the services that they need?

1. All housing identified for the Individualised Community Living Strategy for the 100 people with a mental illness will be spot purchased by the Department for Housing in the area of choice specific to each person's requirements. It is not envisaged that any houses will be required to be purpose built.
2. It is intended that all houses will be spot purchased and there is unlikely to be any wait-time before people are able to transition to their home. Collaborative transition planning by all services involved in the process will ensure that planning is responsive to the individual needs and timelines are appropriate for each person.
3. All houses to be purchased will, as far as possible, be in the area of the person's choice. After purchase, houses will be transferred to the Community Housing Organisations identified by the Department of Housing for ongoing management. In the rare circumstance where there is no Community Housing provider available, the Department of Housing will manage the property.
4. No. There will be no requirement for any person to be placed on a waitlist.
5. Not applicable.
6. Each person is being asked to identify an area of choice and preferred style of accommodation taking into consideration any specific requirements. Typically, these will be existing homes that are two or three bedroom villas, units or houses.
People are also asked to indicate specific information for consideration, which includes proximity and connection to where family and friends might or have lived in the past, previous connection and association with a particular area, access to the type of public transport most preferred, consideration of noise factors, common walls between units/villas, proximity to shops, services and support, any requirements if a pet is envisaged in the future, proximity to work if appropriate and any particular requirements that could help the person in their recovery and self management of their mental illness e.g. near park for walking, space required in house for person who might pace, not near busy, noisy environments etc
