HOSPITALS — LINEAR ACCELERATORS
879. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health:
(1) How many linear accelerators are currently operational at
—
(a) Fiona Stanley Hospital; and
(b) Royal Perth Hospital?
(2) How many linear accelerators are intended for use by
December 2015 at —
(a) Fiona Stanley Hospital; and
(b) Royal Perth Hospital?
(3) Will any
linear accelerators be located at the new Midland Health Campus; and, if not,
where will Midland patients be required to go for radiotherapy?
(4) How many
cancer patients at Fiona Stanley Hospital have had to have radiotherapy outside
of Fiona Stanley Hospital?

(3) No. Cancer
services will be provided at Midland Health Campus via 11 chemotherapy chairs,
which are currently not available at Swan District Hospital. Midland public
patients will receive public radiotherapy treatment at the appropriate hospital
determined by referral pathways.
(4) Since the
opening of Fiona Stanley Hospital, 271 patients have been transferred to Royal
Perth Hospital for their external beam radiotherapy treatment under an agreed
overflow solution.
