MONITORING REPORTS — NICKEL WEST KWINANA REFINERY
1003. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the
minister representing the Minister for Environment:
(1) Will the
minister please table the 2014 groundwater monitoring report for the BHP Nickel
West Kwinana refinery and tailings ponds?
(2) Will the
minister also table the documents that relate to the location of monitor bores
for the Nickel West Kwinana refinery and its tailings ponds?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.

As advised last year—Legislative Council question on notice 1304—when
the honourable member made a similar request, these reports are not required to
be made publicly available under ministerial statement 377, but may be
requested through a freedom of information application to the Office of the
Environmental Protection Authority.
The minister understands that the
member made such an application last year, and the 2013 ''Annual
Groundwater Progress Report'' was released in full. The member may wish
to approach the proponent first in this instance, as it may release the
document and avoid the need for an FOI application.
