CONDITIONS
492. Mr M.
McGOWAN to the Premier:
I
refer to the convicted sex offender Ryan Trevor Clegg who was found to be living
in the Premier's electorate, within walking distance to a childcare
centre and a primary school.
(1) Can the Premier confirm that his office was
contacted about this offender last week by concerned residents?
(2) When was the Premier informed?
(3) What did the Premier or his office do once
contacted about this issue?

(1)–(3) I became aware—I am not
sure whether it was on Friday or Thursday last week—of reports of an
offender being on bail, and that was from general media reports. I was not
aware of the location he was residing at and, as the Leader of the Opposition
says now, it emerged that it was in North Fremantle, which is part of the
Cottesloe electorate. I did not become aware of the fact that he was in North Fremantle
until the weekend, I think Saturday. On Friday I was certainly aware that there
was a sex offender living in a residential area close to a school. Yes, a resident
from North Fremantle contacted my electorate office on Friday, but I did not
become aware of the location until Saturday.
