Firearms—Antifa
888. Hon Rod Caddies to
the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the far-left
extremist group antifa.
(1) Does WA police consider antifa to be an
organised group?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Is WA police aware of how many people identify
as members of antifa in Western Australia?
(4) Does WA police consider people who identify as
antifa members to be people who have views and opinions that make them fit and
proper for firearm ownership in Western Australia?

I thank the member
for some notice of the question. The following response has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police.
(1)–(3) In Western Australia, antifa is
not a formal organisation with central leadership.
(4) The Western Australia Police Force ensure that
all determinations made under section 150 of the Firearms
Act 2024 are assessed on their individual merits. Each matter is subject
to thorough evaluation to ensure decisions are consistent with the legislative
framework and uphold the highest standards of public safety.
