I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) (a) In the
north regional TAFE will be Broome; Derby; Fitzroy Crossing; Halls Creek;
Karratha; Kununurra; Minurmarghali Mia, Roebourne; Newman; Pundulmurra,
Hedland; South Hedland; Tom Price; and Wyndham.
(b) In the
central regional TAFE will be Carnarvon; Exmouth; Geraldton, including Batavia
Coast Maritime Institute and Technology Park Campus; Kalgoorlie; Merredin;
Moora; Northam; and Wiluna.
(c) In the south
regional TAFE will be Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Denmark, Esperance,
Harvey, Katanning, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mt Barker and Narrogin.
(2) The locations of the
administration centres are yet to be decided.
(3) Five governing councils will be
appointed as the accountable authorities for the new colleges.
(4) The minister
did not refer to affected TAFE college staff as a parasitic burden. The comment
referred to the existing administrative structures and not to TAFE college
staff. The minister highly values the work of TAFE college staff and the
professional manner in which they operate.
