ABORIGINAL HERITAGE ACT — HERITAGE SITES
679. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:
I refer to the more than 1 200 sites containing artefact
scatters removed from the heritage register since 1 January 2011.
(1) What was the basis of these sites' removal from
the heritage register?
(2) Were the
Aboriginal custodians/informants notified in every case that a site they
considered to be of significance was no longer considered to be of heritage
value by the Aboriginal Cultural Material Committee?
(3) Was the native title representative body informed in
every case?
(4) If no to (2) or (3), why not?
(5) If yes to
(2) or (3), when and how were these individuals and groups informed?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
I do not think I have that question. I do not recall seeing
it. I have a pile of questions. Has the question been submitted?
Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE : Yes. I got the number back from
Janice.
Hon PETER COLLIER : I got six questions from the member
today and I honestly cannot recall this question.
Hon Ken Travers : Were you misleading us when you
said it was the only question you didn't have an answer for?
Hon PETER COLLIER : No, I am willing to give the honourable
member another go. I honestly cannot recall seeing that question.
Hon Robin Chapple : No worries.
Hon PETER COLLIER : I have plenty more, if the member
would like to ask another one.
Hon Robin Chapple : It has come back.
The PRESIDENT : I am sure t hat will resolve itself
in time.
