I am advised by the Department of Commerce that consultation
with stakeholders on this matter is ongoing, due to such emerging issues as
those outlined in the recently released ''Concept Paper: Review of the
Emergency Services Acts''. A discussion paper on fire engineers that
will take into consideration the issues raised during this extensive
consultation process is now planned for release later this year.
