I refer to my question without notice of 1 May 2001, and ask the minister - (1) Has he subsequently made himself aware of the widespread unease in many areas of publicly funded service delivery about rumours of government cost cutting to the extent of $1.2 billion? (2) If so, is the minister able to now reassure service providers and their clients that wholesale cuts will not be made? (3) If not, would the minister like me to tell him where the centres of widespread unease may be found? Hon N.D. GRIFFITHS

(1)-(3) I am well aware of the fact that the member is peddling rumours. I do not like commenting on rumours. There is no widespread unease and there will be no wholesale cuts.
