QuestionView source ↗
I refer the minister to a report on page 4 of yesterday’s The West Australian relating to the high number of police officers undertaking desk jobs rather than frontline police work. (1) Can the minister confirm that $400 000 has been set aside in the current budget and in every subsequent budget in the forward estimates to provide redundancies for civilian administrative positions in the Police Service? (2) Will the minister concede that, as a direct result of her Government’s policy of shedding civilian staff, many of these positions are now filled by sworn police officers, leaving fewer police on the beat? Mrs M.H. ROBERTS
