Government Regional Officers' Housing
1082. Hon Rob Horstman to
the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Housing and Works:
I refer to the
Government Regional Officers' Housing program.
(1) What is the current stock of GROH houses?
(2) How many GROH houses are currently vacant?
(3) Regarding WA Labor's election commitment to
deliver over 100 additional GROH homes:
(a) can the minister please
provide a breakdown of these new homes by region; and
(b) what is the timeframe for these 100-plus new
homes to be available?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following on
behalf of the Minister for Housing and Works.
(1) It is 5,519.
(2) As at 30 September 2025, there were 612 vacant
properties in the GROH portfolio. Over an average 12-month period, up to one-third
of all GROH portfolio tenancies may turn over due to the normal rotation of
staff in regional locations.
(3) The allocation and distribution of GROH
dwellings across Western Australia is guided by the workforce planning needs of
individual agencies and their priorities. The uplift of $103.8 million for the
GROH program, as committed to in the 2025 state election, more than doubles the
size of the existing GROH construction program, adding a further 100 new builds
to be delivered in regional Western Australia over the forward estimates. As at
30 September 2025, GROH construction contracts are in place in the South West,
Goldfields, Mid West–Gascoyne and Wheatbelt regions.
