I refer to the purchase of 12
apartments in Pelago West.
(1) When did the
government make a decision to purchase 12 apartments in Pelago West?
(2) Was this
decision made by cabinet?
(3) Did the
government have a business case for this purchase; and, if so, what was the
business case predicated on?

funding source for this purchase?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question, which I will answer on behalf of the Minister for Housing.
(1) The
Minister for Housing approved the purchase on 24 May 2011.
(2)–(3)
An acquisition proposal to acquire the dwellings for Government Regional
Officers' Housing accommodation was submitted by the department to the
Minister for Housing in line with normal management process for the GROH
portfolio.
(4) The
funding source was the royalties for regions headworks and infrastructure fund,
which provided $200 million for 400 dwellings for the Government Regional
Officers' Housing program.
(5) The total
purchase amount was $7.357 million.
