DEPARTMENT FOR CHILD PROTECTION — WA POLICE NOTIFICATIONS
This question was submitted last week. Does the Department for Child Protection receive notification from Western Australia Police when charges have been laid arising from reports received through the mandatory reporting of child abuse system? Hon HELEN MORTON

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for her question. On behalf of the Minister for Child Protection, I provide the following response — When the department’s ChildFIRST assessment and interview team has undertaken forensic child interviews, departmental districts are advised of the outcome of all forensic child interviews. If ChildFIRST is not involved, the Department for Child Protection’s caseworker is informed of the outcome of an investigation conducted by the WA Police child abuse squad, particularly when there are protective concerns or the case is open to the Department for Child Protection.
