ROAD UPGRADE
938. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Can the
Minister for Transport confirm that funds have been allocated to allow for the
upgrading of Toodyay Road?
(2) If yes to
(1), how much has been allocated and where in the budget has this allocation
been identified?
(3) What level of upgrade is the minister anticipating for
Toodyay Road, and what is the time frame?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) Yes.
(2) The amount
of $7 million has been allocated for 2014–15 with $3 million for black
spot funding, $2 million for capital works and $2 million for the Safer Roads
program.
(3) The amount
of $2 million will be spent on the provision of sealed shoulders, drainage,
clear zone improvements and minor civil geometric changes at The Springs Road.
Work is anticipated to be completed by December 2015. The amount of $5 million
will be spent on widening Toodyay Road—Roe Highway to Lewis Jones Cross—to
allow right-turn movement at Lewis Jones Cross and drainage improvements,
intersection upgrades and cycle lanes. Work is anticipated to be completed by
mid-2015.
