I refer to Federal Labor's decision to close down Western Australia's live sheep export trade, and I ask: (a) can the Minister please provide modelling on the economic impact on the closure of the live sheep trade, including the number of job losses expected; and (b) noting the Minister's comments that the amount of funding in the Commonwealth transition package is not enough, what quantity of funding has the Minister requested from the Commonwealth?

a) I refer you to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s (DPIRD) submission to the Australian Government’s Independent Panel on the phase out of live sheep exports by sea. The submission is publicly available on the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry website .
b) I have encouraged the Federal Minister for Agriculture to speak with industry to better understand what is required to support the transition process.
