NEWMAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
1391. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
I refer to the rebuild of Newman
Senior High School.
(1) Is the
minister aware that the canteen is currently being run and, even after the
rebuild, will be run out of a very small, unsafe and unsatisfactory
demountable?
(2) Will the
minister give a commitment to take action to incorporate new canteen facilities
in the rebuild; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
scope of works for the rebuild at Newman Senior High School is only for the
fire-damaged facilities. I am advised that the canteen has been identified as
requiring an upgrade and will be considered in future capital works programs. A
building condition assessment report has been requested to identify maintenance
works that may be required.
