I refer to the Camping with Custodians program, and ask: (a) How much funding has been provided to date to develop and implement this program; (b) Does funding include the ongoing maintenance of the campgrounds; (c) If no to (b) how is ongoing maintenance of the campgrounds funded; (d) Once facilities have opened, what support is provided by the State Government to campground operators; and (e) When will the Violet Valley campgrounds open?

(a)   $7 576 252 of State Government funding has been provided to date since the Camping with Custodians program’s inception in 2013.
(b)   The funding supports maintenance work for the first two to three years until operational sustainability is demonstrated.
(c)   Not applicable.
(d)   Tourism WA and the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council provide support to campground operators through the delivery of mentoring and training, marketing and business development. Tourism WA also received $113 000 from Indigenous Business Australia to enable WA operators to travel to and spend time learning from operators of similar businesses in other States.
(e)   Violet Valley campground is anticipated to open in May 2019.
