(1) On the 24 February 2006 there were four men residing on the Whitby Falls Hostel site. In addition, one Whitby Falls Hostel resident is currently on leave and is an inpatient of Bentley Health Service. Another man who previously resided in the Independent Living Programme House in Mundijong is an inpatient of the Fremantle Hospital Old Age Psychiatry Service, pending resolution of a request by his Sydney-based brother for him to move across to Sydney. (2) Two of the four men cared for by the staff at Whitby Falls on Friday 24 February 2006 have had their multi disciplinary assessments completed. The South Metropolitan Mental Health Service has completed the multi-disciplinary assessments of the other two men; discussion with Fremantle Hospital Geriatricians is ongoing re one of the men (regarding the feasibility of arranging appropriate care and accommodation in Sydney), and an independent psychiatric assessment of the other man is imminent (it is being arranged in collaboration with the Office of the Public Advocate). (3) Two - the multidisciplinary assessments identified that both these men possess the functional capacity to live in purpose built supported domestic style accommodation (other men have also been assessed as possessing such functional capacity - it is anticipated that five men will live in the replacement accommodation). (4) The staff member appeared at the Armadale Court on the 25 January 2006 and was acquitted of the charges against him. The Department of Health is investigating other allegations of serious professional misconduct against this staff member. The staff member is suspended from duty pending the outcome of this investigation.
