I refer to question on notice No. 136 of Tuesday, July 31 2001 and the answers provided -
(1) Can the Minister give the specific dates on which KCGM first commenced and then completed covering the Mt Percy tailings storage facility with top soil to be revegetated with local native grasses, shrubs and trees?
(2) If not, why not?
(3) Can the Minister give the amount of tonnes in terms of each for waste rock and top soil that was placed on the Mt Percy tailings storage facility?
(4) If not, why not?
(5) Can the Minister give the amount of area in hectares and square metres in terms of the Mt Percy tailings storage facility that was covered with waste rock and top soil?
(6) If not, why not?
(7) Did the operators/owners of the Mt Percy tailings storage facility with employees/contractors operate earthmoving equipment and dump any soil and minerals along the north western boundary of Registered Aboriginal Site Reserve 24574?
(8) If yes, can the Minister give a date on which the Department of Minerals and Energy gave the prior written permission for this to occur?

1. The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources was informed by KCGM that rehabilitation of the tailings storage facility commenced on 1 July 2001 and was completed by 10 December 2001. 2. Not applicable. 3. Approximately 629 000 tonnes of waste material was placed on the Mt Percy Tailings Storage Facility. 4. Not applicable. 5. The area covered with material was approximately 40 hectares (400,000M2). 6. Not applicable. 7. The Department has advised that during the project no equipment was operated or material deposited on the Reserve. The road running along the western boundary was used for access during the rehabilitation process. 8. Not applicable.
