JOONDALUP RAIL LINE — YANCHEP EXTENSION
158. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I am going to try my good friend the
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport. I think it is my first
one for this year to you, Jim! So, Mr President, let us see how we go.
I refer to a claim by the member for
Wanneroo on 20 January 2016 that the state government has committed to the
commencement of the extension of the railway line from Butler to Yanchep in
2024.
(1) Is this a commitment for actual
construction to commence in 2024 or just for planning?
(2) When is it expected the
extension will open?
(3) How much
additional traffic will use Mitchell Freeway, Wanneroo Road and Marmion Avenue
due to this delay compared with the original timetable outlined in the July
2011 draft public transport plan?
(4) What
roadworks will need to be undertaken on Mitchell Freeway, Wanneroo Road and
Marmion Avenue to ensure that they are able to cope with the additional traffic
until the rail extension is completed?
