(1-2) Establishment of the Mental Health Commission to date has primarily focused on the formal separation of the Mental Health Division from the Department of Health. However, the Acting Commissioner and other senior staff have had several meetings with consumer representatives to better understand their views on consumer issues that the Commission may need to address.
(3) Yes
(4-5) Work to determine an appropriate structure and individual roles and responsibilities within the Commission is now being progressed. Consultation with consumers will form part of this process to ensure the structure enables genuine consumer engagement.
