SOLAR FARMS
720. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the
Minister for Energy:
I have a supplementary question. Will the minister allow
Synergy to buy renewable energy certificates from one of these 10 projects
built in another state?

AnswerView source ↗

I do not know. I am going to take
advice —
Mr
W.J. Johnston interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Members!
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : You asked a question. Let me finish it. Are you a heckler or a
member of Parliament?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Cannington, you asked a supplementary question, let the minister answer.
Answer, minister, please.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : I repeat what I said before. No; we do not know any of the
details about the projects—where they will be built, if they will be
built in Western Australia, if they will be built at all or who are the
proponents. Therefore, I am not going to commit to anything.
Point of Order
Mr W.J. JOHNSTON : I asked a
simple question: will the minister allow Synergy to buy renewable energy
certificates from any of these 10 projects if they are built in another state?
He has not answered that question.
The SPEAKER : I just want to tell
you something now. You continually take points of order that are not points of
order. Next time you take a point of order that is not a point of order, I will
call you to order. Answer the question, minister.
Questions without Notice Resumed
Mr
W.J. Johnston interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Cannington! I call you to order for the third time.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : Very good response, Mr Speaker.
Again, I go back to it. There is no
proposal on the table. Until there is, I cannot make a commitment on whether
Synergy will suggest to invest in them or not. We do not make decisions on
hypothecated issues.
