Bus manufacture—Electric and diesel
261. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the WA
Labor government's commitment to phase-out diesel buses by 2050 and the recent
announcement to manufacture only electric buses in WA going forward.
(1) How many diesel buses were manufactured in Western
Australia this financial year?
(2) How many electric buses were manufactured in
WA this financial year, and how many are anticipated to be manufactured in 2025–26?
(3) How many diesel buses have been purchased this
financial year to date and how many does the government expect to purchase in 2025–26?
(4) How many electric buses were purchased this
financial year and how many does the government expect to purchase in 2025–26?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(4) Twenty-nine electric
buses and 103 diesel buses have been manufactured in 2024–25, and 132 electric
buses and zero diesel buses are scheduled to be manufactured in 2025–26.
