Yes, significant election commitments that have been
fulfilled or are on track, less than 15 months into a four year term, by the
order they were announced during the 2013 election campaign are as follows.
This is not an exhaustive list.
1. Free public
transport during off-peak periods for carers took effect May 2013.
2. Improved safety
measures for rock fishers are being rolled out in consultation with local
communities.
3. Electronic
flashing speed signs at every 40kmh school zone are being rolled out, with $36
million allocated to 2016-2017.
4. Legislation has
been introduced to see tougher penalties for violent home invasions.
5. Funding for
palliative care has been increased by $20 million, with funding allocated
through to 2016-17.
6. New regulations
took effect on 1 July 2013 to make it easier for restaurants to serve liquor
without a meal.
7. A multi-storey car
park at Edgewater train station is underway with $46.5 million allocated in the
2013-2014 Budget over three years for development and construction.
8. Chinatown in
Northbridge is being revitalised. Funding was allocated in the 2013-14 Budget
and a new entry statement has been completed. Stage 2 will follow.
9. Hartfield Sporting
Complex, Forrestfield will receive a makeover with $6.01 million allocated over
three years from 2013-2014.
10. Mundaring
Recreation Centre will receive covered basketball courts with $3 million
allocated over 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.
11. 'Parks for
People' is being rolled out, with $21 million allocated in the 2013-14
Budget to improve camping and visitor facilities in WA's national
parks. The Western Australian Parks Authority (WAPA) and Department of
Environment Regulation (DER) have been created.
12. Mandatory blood
testing legislation was introduced in May 2014 and $10.5 million Royalties for
Regions funding was allocated over four years in 2013-14 Budget for incentives
to attract police officers in hard-to-fill regional locations.
13. $27.5 million has
been allocated over four years in the 2014-15 Budget for Coalfields Highway
upgrades, and environmental approvals are progressing.
14. $3.5 million has
been allocated in the 2014-15 Budget to provide 500 new car bays at Osborne
Park Hospital.
15. We are on track to
recruit a total of 720 police officers over the next four years. $215 million
was allocated in 2013-2014 Budget to recruit an additional 400 police and 150
police auxiliary officers. This also covers the recruitment of remaining 170
officers from the 2008 commitment.
16. $67 million has
been allocated over four years for capital works upgrades to accommodate
additional police, including $12.5 million for the Ballajura police station
which is on track to start construction 2015-16.
17. Extra protective
equipment for fire fighters is being provided, with $12.3 million in 2013-2014
State Budget over four years.
18. Legislation to see
tougher penalties for hoons is being drafted and is expected to be introduced
in the second half of 2014, and $170,000 has been allocated in 2014-15 Budget
for new covert CCTV cameras to catch hoons.
19. $38 million has
been allocated in 2013-14 Budget to employ 110.6 metro FTE school nurses and
44.9 FTE school nurses by 2016-17.
20. $26 million has
been allocated for 15 passing lanes on Great Eastern Hwy, to be completed in
conjunction with Walgoolan to Coolgardie upgrade and widening program. A total
of $67.1 million has been allocated to Great Eastern Highway.
21. ScreenWest will
establish a new Production Attraction Program with $2m allocated over four
years from 2014-15.
22. The Country Age
Pension Fuel Card has been indexed and the $200 Cost of Living Assistance
(CoLA) has been extended to people in group living arrangements.
23. $3.5 million in
capital and operating funding was allocated in 2013-14 Budget for a first women's
refuge, and a decision on a second site is forthcoming.
24. Nurses have been given
a 14 per cent pay rise over three years.
25. $10 million was
allocated over two years in 2014-15 Budget for infrastructure funding to PCYC
and 30 police officers to work with young offenders/at-risk youth.
26. A new museum is on
track to be delivered by 2020 with $5million allocated in 2013-14, plus $225
million over four years allocated in 2014-15 Budget; support for SKA continues
and the Government remains committed to a new Scitech location, with the Budget
allocation subject to site selection and agreement by both parties.
27. $40 million of
funding to boost biosecurity and research and development in agriculture was
committed as part of $300 million Royalties for Regions allocation over four
years from 2013-14.
28. Construction of
the new Perth to Darwin Highway (NorthLink WA) to redirect trucks away from the
Swan Valley is on track with $32m allocated in 2013-14 and $641.6 million over
four years from 2014-15, including Federal Government funding.
29. Payroll tax relief
is being provided with the threshold increased to $800,000 in 2014-15 and
$850,000 by 2016-17, and funding allocated in 2013-14 Budget.
30. Construction of
nine new passing lanes on Albany Highway is progressing, with the first lane
complete and $22.6 million the 2014-15 Budget over three years.
31. $12 million to
upgrade Great Eastern Hwy, Mundaring is committed in the 2014-15 Budget.
32. $20 million
multi-sport expansion of Joondalup Arena is underway with the full allocation
committed in 2013-2014 Budget over four years
33. Revised
Residential Design Codes to allow non-residents to occupy granny flats and
increase allowable floor space were adopted in August 2013.
34. $15.3 million in
capital and recurrent funding for a new emergency rescue helicopter to service
the communities of the South-West and the Great Southern has been allocated in
2013-14 Budget for delivery in 2015-16.
35. Completion of the
Principal Shared Path Bicycle Network is progressing well, with $47.1 million
allocated for principal shared paths, plus local government grants over 4
years.
36. A pilot of the new
KidsCulture program is underway in Albany, with further funding to be allocated
once the trials in Albany and Stirling are complete.
37. $400,000 over four
years to establish more community gardens has been allocated in 2013-14 Budget.
38. Over 67,000 West
Australians with a disability are being supported through free ACROD permits,
with funding allocated in 2013-14 Budget.
39. Stage 6 of
undergrounding power lines is being rolled out, with $10 million allocated per
year through to 2017-18.
40. Funding for a
full-time health professional for Fitzroy Crossing has been allocated over four
years as part of 2013-14 Budget.
41. $6 million was

health workers to identify ear disease in children living in remote
communities.
42. Announced reforms
on 9 April 2014 to develop a new strategic direction for Vocational Education
