I refer the Premier to the letter written to him on 15 August by the Department of Health whistleblower Jean Thornton regarding serious management problems within the Department of Health and which requests that the letter be tabled. I further refer to the Premier’s statement yesterday that the Commissioner for Public Sector Standards will use her powers under section 24 of the Public Sector Management Act to investigate the human resource standards of the Department of Health. (1) Given that to date the Premier has not tabled the letter, will he advise what he has done with Ms Thornton’s letter and when does he expect to give a response? (2) Given that at the close of business yesterday the Commissioner for Public Sector Standards was not in possession of the 15 August letter, has the Premier now given a copy of the letter, including all the attachments and all other information in his possession, to the commissioner? Dr G.I. GALLOP
