I refer the Premier to the Workforce
Reform Bill 2013.
(1) In his second
reading speech, the Premier advised that the bill will amend the Industrial
Relations Act to require the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission
to take into account the public sector policy statement, the financial position
of the state and the relevant public sector entity. Does that apply to persons
employed under the Police Act?
(2) What
relevance, if any, does the date 1 November 2013, as specified on page 4 of the
bill, have to police officers in terms of their industrial agreement?
(3) Do the provisions of part 2 of
the bill apply to police officers?

The legislation will apply to police in terms of wage policy implications for
both the State Administrative Tribunal and the Industrial Relations Commission.
The police are not public servants. There are other aspects applied into that;
however, this is across the board. The significance of the November date is
that the policy will come into effect from then.
