SCHOOLS — SWAN URBAN GROWTH CORRIDOR
789. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
I refer to the need for new schools
in the Swan urban growth corridor.
(1) Did the City
of Swan write to the Department of Education requesting that it provide
certainty in relation to the funding of sports fields in the urban growth
corridor?
(2) Has the Department of Education
responded to this request?
(3) Will the
department provide funding certainty for new schools and associated playing
fields in Dayton, Brabham and Caversham?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) Yes.
(3) Sites for
future primary schools are set aside in the local planning scheme in the urban
growth corridor in Caversham, Brabham and Dayton. Funding for new schools,
which includes the development of playing fields, is allocated through the
annual budget process. The location and timing for the development of schools
is determined by the Department of Education on an annual basis based on
population and enrolment projections.
