1073. Hon Rod Caddies to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Treasurer:
I refer to the
availability and cost of renting a home in WA.
(1) What is the current rental vacancy rate in:
(a) the Perth metropolitan area; and
(b) regional WA?
(2) What is the current average cost per week to
rent a home in:
(a) the Perth metropolitan area; and
(b) regional WA?
(3) What is the average cost per week to rent a
four-bedroom house with a backyard in Western Australia?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
response on behalf of the Treasurer.
(1) The current rental vacancy rate in October
2025 as reported by the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia:
(a) in the Perth metropolitan area was 2.2%; and
(b) across regional WA was 0.4% in Albany, 1.7% in
Broome , 1.2% in Bunbury, 2.3% in Geraldton, 1.2% in Kalgoorlie and 2.1% in
Port Hedland.
(2) As reported by REIWA, the median price to rent
a home in the 12 months to October 2025:
(a) was $700 per week in the Perth metropolitan
area; and
(b) across regional WA it was $470 per week in
Albany, $1,025 per week in Broome, $680 per week in Bunbury, $500 per week in
Geraldton, $685 per week in Kalgoorlie, and $1,175 per week in Port Hedland.
(3) According to REIWA, the median rent for a four-bedroom
house in the Perth metropolitan area is $750 per week in the 12 months to
October 2025.
