Health—Financial sustainability taskforce
733. Hon Michelle Hofmann to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the
article in The West Australian of 7
September 2025 reporting that the Department of Health has established a new
financial sustainability taskforce, with measures including bans on increasing
full-time positions, reductions to non-patient facing roles and warnings of
more punitive actions if savings are not achieved.
(1) What is the total savings target set for this
taskforce?
(2) Which categories of
staff positions have already been reduced or are being considered for
reduction, and what are the numbers?
(3) Where will any funds identified through
savings be redirected within the health system?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I have just noticed one
minor point in the answer, and I will seek some clarification. Hopefully, I can
provide an answer at the end of question time.
