Agriculture and Food:
I refer to the answer to question
without notice 1347, asked on 26 November, in which the minister referred to
his department's ''strategy for biosecurity''.
(1) Will the minister table a copy of
the strategy; and, if not, why not?
(2) Were any
external stakeholders consulted in the development of the strategy; and, if
yes, which stakeholders were consulted?
(3) If no to (2), why not?

I thank the honourable member for some
notice of this question.
(1) The draft
Western Australian state biosecurity strategy is being released for public
comment on 4 December 2014. It will be open for public comment until 13 March
2015. I will then table the strategy in Parliament once this process has been
completed.
(2) The draft
state biosecurity strategy was developed as an across-agency document in
agreement with the four key Western Australian government agencies responsible
for the prevention and eradication of pests and diseases that affect their
respective portfolios of agriculture, fisheries, forestry and the environment.
The Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia has assumed the lead
role, in partnership with the Department of Parks and Wildlife, Department of
Fisheries, Forest Products Commission and Department of the Premier and
Cabinet. The WA Biosecurity Council was also consulted.
