LYNAS RARE EARTHS
PROJECT, KALGOORLIE — ENERGY AND WATER INFRASTRUCTURE
486. Ms M.J. DAVIES to the Premier:
I
have a supplementary question. I thank the Premier for advising that he has met
with them. What is the government doing to address the specific concerns
that there is a lack of energy and water treatment and supply infrastructure in
the goldfields to guarantee the continued growth of the Lynas project?

Thank
you, Madam Speaker. I know that the Goldfields–Esperance Development
Commission has done a significant amount of work to map what we need to
do to make sure that we have the investments in place. We understand that there
are constraints in the goldfields, particularly around housing and issues to do
with water, power and industrial estates. My government will continue to work
with industry to make sure that it can make confident investment decisions. We are bringing jobs to Western Australians. We
are bringing prosperity to Western Australia through the advanced
manufacturing and refining of critical minerals and rare earths. We are
continuing to make sure that Western Australia is a global leader in the
transition to a clean, green energy future.
