FUNCTION — DARRYLL ASHWORTH
1388. Hon KATE DOUST to the Leader of the
House representing the Minister for Finance:
(1) Did the
Minister for Finance or anyone in his office have any discussions or
communications about who might attend the function with the Chinese Consul on
11 August 2014?
(2) If yes to (1), who were the
communications with and what was the nature of the communication?
(3) Did the
Minister for Finance suggest to anyone that Mr Darryll Ashworth could or should
attend the function?
(4) If yes to (3), who did he make
the suggestion to?
(5) Prior to the function, was the
minister aware that Mr Ashworth would be attending?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(4) An
informal request was received from the Consul General seeking names of
potential guests who have extensive experience in a range of industries and
broad cultural knowledge of China. The office of the Minister for Finance
forwarded names of potential guests, details of the time and location of the
informal dinner and arranged biographies of potential guests to be sent to the
consulate.
(5) Yes.
