BAYSWATER TRAIN STATION
324. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the minister's
comments in The West Australian on 15 March attributing delays to
Bayswater train station to ''industry cost and supply pressures and the
collapse of the building company FIRM'' Construction.
(1) Has the
budget for the new Bayswater station increased due to the delays and reasons
provided by the minister?
(2) If yes to (1), what is the
financial implication?
(3) Have industry cost and supply pressures impacted
any of the other Metronet projects that are still in delivery?
(4) If yes to (3), what is the
financial implication and the impact on the project delivery schedule?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) Like with many other transport projects across the
country, industry cost and supply pressures have impacted the Metronet
program of projects. The financial implications of cost and supply pressures
across the construction industry, including for Metronet projects, are being
considered as part of the process for the 2023–24 state budget. Any
financial implications will be reported in the state budget.
