KEYSTART — INTEREST RATE POLICY
397. Ms L. METTAM to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
These home owners are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, so why did
the Premier not act sooner before this front page headline?

AnswerView source ↗

We undertook a review, which we do
occasionally, to make sure that all our policies are appropriately structured
and are doing the job that we want them to do. The Minister for Housing, who
has been a huge advocate for those who are struggling in our community,
particularly through his homelessness portfolio, is doing amazing work to make sure that we increase our social housing
supply to assist those who are struggling to get a roof over their heads and are struggling with acute homelessness to make sure that they have the
supports and the sort of accommodation they
need, but also to assist those in the transitionary period to access the loan
arrangements under Keystart on their way to becoming long-term home
owners. As a result of the review that is undertaken, we are now in a position
to make these announcements to provide great relief.
