I thank the member
for the question.
(1)–(2) Pre-burn surveys were undertaken
by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions ahead of the
Willmot–Quindinillup FRK 112 prescribed burn to assess potential
impacts on Baudin's and Carnaby's black cockatoos and their nesting sites, with
no nesting sites identified. The surveys were conducted by DBCA staff over two
days, although specific hours were not recorded. Two DBCA staff members
conducted on-the-ground assessments. The two DBCA staff members possess the
relevant qualifications and expertise required to undertake the survey work.
The survey method comprised driving transects through the planned burn area to
detect cockatoo behaviour during the breeding season. Field data was collected
to inform burn planning; however, a standalone cockatoo survey report was not
produced.
