ROAD
SAFETY — NOVICE DRIVERS
971. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the Attorney General representing
the Minister for Road Safety:
I refer to the announcement that the minister no longer
intends to proceed with peer passenger restriction reform.
(1) Did the
Road Safety Council provide the Minister for Road Safety with formal advice on
this matter before the minister decided to drop the reforms?
(2) If yes, will the minister table the advice; and, if no,
why not?
(3) If no to (1), how was the minister informed of the views
of the Road Safety Council?
(4) Will the
minister table a copy of any written advice or briefing notes she received from
the Road Safety Council or Office of Road Safety on the proposed reform?

On behalf of the Minister for Road Safety, I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1)–(4)
The Office of Road Safety provided the minister with advice of the resolution
of the Road Safety Council. Advice from the Office of Road Safety to the
minister is between the office and the minister.
