BUNBURY OUTER RING ROAD
ROUTE — INSURANCE
450. Hon COLIN HOLT to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the Bunbury Outer Ring
Road and the effect this will have on insurance for residents of properties
affected by the construction of the BORR.
(1) Is the
minister aware that insurance companies are now asking for structural reports
for properties immediately adjacent to the proposed BORR before being insured?
(2) Will Main
Roads WA conduct structural reports for these affected properties and provide
them to the property owners?
(3) If no to (2),
what actions will the minister undertake to assist affected landholders, given
that privately conducted reports have been quoted as costing in excess of $3 000?
(4) Will the
minister today undertake to meet with concerned property owners directly; and,
if so, when?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(4) As
part of the project, property condition reports will be carried out for
properties within 100 metres of any construction activities. Reports will be
provided to property owners. This is a process followed with all significant
Main Roads projects.
