I refer to the Bunbury Timber Jetty, and ask -
(1) Is the Minister aware that the structure of the Bunbury Timber Jetty has deteriorated to the point that large sections of timber are falling off the Jetty and presenting an ongoing safety and navigational hazard?
(2) What action is the Minister taking to address this safety and navigational hazard?
(3) Will the State Government immediately provide matching funds of $3.5 million to the City of Bunbury, to undertake demolition and repair works to the Jetty before the safety and navigation hazard posed by the Jetty results in property damage or a tragedy?

(1) Yes.
(2) As licensee of the Bunbury Timber Jetty, the City of Bunbury (City) provides funding to the Bunbury Timber Jetty Restoration Committee for the identification and removal of seriously dilapidated sections of the jetty structure. In addition, the City conducts its own monthly inspection of the jetty for identification and removal of loose timbers. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure has been advised by the City that it has now installed a bunting with warning signs around the perimeter of the jetty at tidal level to prevent access by the public underneath the structure.
(3) No. The City has been advised to pre-fund the entire jetty works and lead the tender process. LandCorp will reimburse the City $3.5 million once the Bunbury Waterfront Project has reached formal agreement. The City has also been advised that, if the project is deemed appropriate, the $1.1 million provided to the City through the Royalties for Regions program could be utilised.
