DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION — STRATEGIC ASSET
PLAN
1269. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
I refer to the strategic asset plan.
(1) Since the
release of the Auditor General's report, what advice has the department
sought or received about releasing all or part of the strategic asset plan?
(2) Will the minister provide a copy
of the current plan?
(3) If no to (2),
will the minister undertake to determine whether any of it can be provided to
Parliament?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1)–(3) Strategic
asset plans are prepared as part of the budget process to inform deliberations
and decision‑making by ministers, the Treasurer, the Economic and Expenditure
Reform Committee and cabinet. The 10-year SAPs are subject to a wide variety of
assumptions and are continually updated. The Department of Treasury and the
Department of the Premier and Cabinet are the central source of advice on the
correct handling of SAP material during the budget process, including agencies'
capital investment plans and proposals. The Department of Treasury will work
with the Department of the Premier and Cabinet to address the handling of SAP
material.
