WOUNDSWEST PROGRAM
I refer to the WoundsWest program that provides important wound management care, particularly for people living in country areas. (1) Is it true that government is considering reducing its contribution to the program from the initial six-year proposal to a limited three-year program? (2) If yes to (1), when will the program cease? (3) Should the WoundsWest program be cancelled or reduced in time and scope, will the minister explain the impact this will have on the free training and education of health professionals in Western Australia, particularly those in regional and remote communities? Dr K.D. HAMES

(1)-(3) The WoundsWest program is, in my view, an excellent program. It helps people who are not in hospital but who have wounds that need chronic management with better management of those wounds, and it teaches them how to properly care for their wounds. It is true that the outcome of this service and the way in which it is provided is being looked at, as are all services provided by government. I have not yet received that report, so I am not in a position to answer any of the questions that have been put by the member for Albany.
